Baffin's Ultralite Snow Boot Series
Posted on Dec 06, 2014 by WinterBoots
Baffin’s new Ultralite boot series is exactly that…Ultra Lightweight! Wow, for a boot with a –58°F/- 50°C comfort rating, nothing on this planet compares! At approximately 2 lbs per pair, it is one of the lightest snow boots in the winter boot category.
What makes this series different than othe Baffin models? If you have heard of Hoka One One, one of the lightest running shoes in the business with almost 2.5 times the midsole volume for cushioning, well then, you could say this is the Hoka One One of winter boots. It actually uses the same blend of compression molded RMATtm soft EVA foam with Rubber in its midsole for supior grip and cushioning, just like the Hoka One One lightweight Conquest running shoes. And because of the additional material for cushioning, it adds to the insulation under foot to block out the cold from penetrating under the foot.
The removable liner uses the same technology as in snow boots with a memory foam to provide a custom fit to your particular foot shape. It will mold over time with you own body heat, or to speed up the molding process, you can also blow hot air into the boot with a hair dryer, and then lace it up real tight for a faster custom molding process. A speed lace system allows you to set the tension just enough for support, but loose enough to slip on and go without bending over. Both the tongue and calf area of the liner as large finger loops for easy slip on with squishing down the liner and having to reach behind your heel to pull back up. Have you tried reaching behind you heel lately…it’s not easy.
Baffin has thought of everything with this boot. To walk around on what feels like a bed of marshmallows in a warm supportive snow boot without any weight is absolutely remarkable. These Canadian boys and girls know what they’re doing! You'll love your new Ultralite baffin winter boots!
